'Die zwei Wölfe

An einem lauen Sommerabend saß ein Cherokee Großvater mit seiner Enkeltochter am Lagerfeuer. Er erzählte ihr von dem Zwiespalt, der in vielen von uns Menschn tobt. Er sagte: " Mein Kind! Der Zwiespalt wird von zwei Wölfen angeführt. Einer der Wölfe ist das Dunkle in uns. Es ist der Zorn und die Wut, die uns manchmal überkommen. Der Neid auf die anderen. Die Sorgen, die wir uns machen und die Ängste, die wir haben. Er steht für die Gier, die Ignoranz, Vorurteile, Lügen und die Eifersucht. Der andere Wolf ist das Licht in uns. Er ist Freude, Frieden, Liebe, Hoffnung, Heiterkeit, Demut, Güte, Großzügigkeit, Aufrichtigkeit und Mitgefühl." 

Die Enkelin dachte einige Zeit über die Worte ihres Großvaters nach. Dann fragte sie: "Welcher der beiden Wölfe in uns ist größer?"

Der Großvater antwortete: "Der, den du fütterst." '
