Light rays of human being...

'Co-regulation is what is called a biological imperative, meaning we don't survive without it. We are born needing to be welcomed by another human being and this essential need lasts for a lifetime.'

- Deb Dana, Anchored

'While we may give up the active search for people to connect with, our nervous system never stops looking for, waiting for, and longing for connection. Until the day we die, we long for safe and reliable connections. Co-regulation is essential ; first for survival and then for living a life of well-being.
To meet our needs for connection, it's not necessary to have relationships that are alwaya in balance. Rather, we require relationships that are reciprocal. In fact, we build resilience in relationships when we feel connected, experience a rupture, and find our way back to repair. It's only when ruptures happen  without repair that our longing for connection brings suffering. The cycle of reciprocity, rupture and repair is the nature of healthy relationships. '

-Deb Dana, Anchored

' We need to remember that our capacity to flourish on our own is built on a foundation of first being safely connected. And even as we move from Co-regulation to self-regulation, we never loose the need  to be safely connected with others. As long as we are alive, moments of both Co-regulation and self-regulation are necessary for well-being. '

-Deb Dana, Anchored

' Without enough experiences of Co-regulation, we can't find nourishment in solitude. '
